PLEASE NOTE - THIS EVENT IS IN THE BICYCLE SHOP BASEMENT, NOT THE HOLLOWAY! We’re delighted to have been asked to start promoting nights once a month by our good friends at the Bicycle Shop. For our first foray next door, we’ve assembled a delicious triple-bill of exquisite local folk talents. Louis Coates refers to his playing as "Django Winehardt" (Django Reinhardt with more wine), though his style moves like fluid through jazz manouche, bebop, fingerstyle and Latin - all the way to chugging acoustic proto-funk. Louis intersperses jazz classics with primitive yet elegant original material which verges on the avante garde at times. As part of a variety of touring acts including a swing trio, a ceilidh band and as a session musician with several local artists, Louis has a vast menu to draw from in his creative endeavours. And he appears to select every single dish. Sophie Wren is a folk singer-songwriter who soothes the soul with stories of healing, nature and love, she uses her music…
